On 28 May 1949 Clara Anne Day and Myron Turner were married. The bride was selected by Marie Bankhead Owen to wear an original French gown received by the state of Ala. from the City of Lyon on the "Merci" or French Gratitude Train. The French Gratitude Train was part of French effort to thank Alabamians for their support of the Marshall Plan after WWII. After the wedding the state legislature of Alabama named the Turners good-will ambassadors during their honeymoon in France. ...
